Times are officially different in the world. Now the COVID-19 pandemic has lasted well over a year and doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. This is causing a lot of people huge amounts of fear, stress, anxiety, and worry.

No longer seeing family, friends, and being very anti-social with everyone around us. This leaves a huge question of will the world ever be the same? This uncertainty of the future is driving a lot of us nuts and is unpredictable. Keep reading to learn 3 ways you can make the most of your life given the current circumstances.

Uncertainty is a word that has been used more than ever during these times. Accepting the new norm and adapting is important. Understanding that constantly worrying and talking about the negativity of the situation will not yield any positive results in your life.

My job and work life has remained much of the same, but for a lot of people it has changed dramatically. Whether you lost your job or are now working from home full-time, the circumstances are different for everyone. Social life almost seems to be at a standstill and is hard for many of us to cope with.

Today I wanted to give a few pointers how to deal with this fear and anxiety to stay on track with your life. Keep reading below to find out how you can rid some of your fear and to keep learning and growing during these different times.

Live with Purpose

What is it you want to do in life? This is a big question, but something you need to sit down and think about. What purpose do you want to serve and feel like you are meant to do? This can take years of trial and error to really get to the bottom of but is well worth it. Your purpose may shift and evolve over your life, this is completely normal.

Living with purpose could mean to volunteer every week at a place where you feel passionate about, to travel the world, become a fire fighter, or follow whatever path feels right to you in your gut.

When you live with purpose you will feel more joy and happiness out of life. If volunteering is out of the question now in a physical location maybe you can do it online. Online seems to be how the world is connecting through video in the current times.

Just because things are different and potentially changed forever doesn’t mean you have to continue doing things like you did before. Change is important for everyone and to evolution even if it feels difficult and challenging at the time. Cabs are getting phased out from technology companies like Uber and Lyft. This is part of life and the constant changes of the world.

A Routine is Critical

Have you ever had a weekend off work without any plans and before you know it its Sunday night? You didn’t accomplish anything and yet the time flew right by. Yes, sometimes you need to recharge and relax your body, so this may be necessary. Although, doing this every weekend or day for that matter may have some adverse affects to your life.

Routines are the structure that forms your weeks, months, and years. With many of us being home more than ever, it is critical to have a daily routine in place. Without it you may be wasting weeks, months, and potentially years away without moving forward. A routine is a rough schedule or plan to follow during certain times of the day. You don’t need to plan every minute and second but having some key things you do each day will ultimately keep you on track.

Doing the same tasks at the same times each day will help you get into a good rhythm. For example, if you want to exercise for 1 hour 5 times a week, then create a schedule to exercise Tuesday to Saturday at 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. will keep you more consistent than winging it.

If you can schedule in a few important tasks each day for your mind, body, goals, and responsibilities you will be doing great! Things like exercising, reading, meditating, learning, and doing what needs to get done around the house are only a few examples. You want to be taking care of your health, wealth, and chip away at your goals each day.

Stop Worrying About What You Can’t Control

This pandemic is no doubt affecting our psychological well being and causing stress in our lives. Even though this is the case, worrying about every little detail is a losing battle. Plain and simple if you don’t have the power to control something, worrying about it is a complete waste of time.

There is a book I recommend reading called Stop Worrying and Start Living by Dale Carnegie. Carnegie goes into depth about how worrying will only lead to more stress, sickness, and mishaps in one’s life. Worrying about things in the future takes you away from the present moment – the only moment you need to be in.

Everyone worries from time to time, this is normal. While others worry about every little detail and are constantly stressed about “possible” misfortunes in the future. If you can’t control it, move on, and stop thinking about it. This can be a difficult habit to break, but the main thing you need to do is be mindful of the present moment. If you’re in the present moment, you will not be thinking about the past or the future.

You can also learn to express gratitude when you start to worry about something. When you are thankful for something like family, friends, money, or food it brings inner joy, and you will no longer be worrying. Make sure you pick up the book Stop Worrying and Start Living today and give it a read. While it was written a while ago, it is more applicable today than it ever was.

Conclusion

The world is changing and already has changed so much over the past year. Even though there is no apparent end in sight, I hope you stay positive and look on the bright side of the situation. Maybe this is exactly what we need to get back to the basics and understand ourselves better. While you may not have the power to get out of this new world order, you do have the choice to make the best of it every single day.

Follow my 3 steps to living and adapting to a better life during uncertain times; live with purpose, create a daily routine, and stop worrying about what you can’t control. Be sure to pick up the book Stop Worrying and Start Living and get out of your own head. Become more mindful and be in the present moment to live a happier life.

When you talk about bad situations you attract them to you. Focus on the good and positive aspects in your life and that is what you will get. In best health to you and your families, thanks so much for spending time here today.
