Life can get crazy at times and learning to accept what happens is key to moving forward and growing. People tend to label things as positive or negative, good or bad so to speak. The way you see things in life will determine how you feel and act in different situations. But, how can you change your way to improve your feelings and results? Find out all you need to know in this post.
I recently had an experience out of my control that downright sucked. I paid a bunch of money to go to something that never actually happened. I could have complained and told everyone I know and lived in anger and frustration. But, rather I accepted what happened was out of my control and moved on, almost immediately.
If you linger in the moments of pain or suffering in your life that is what you will get - more pain and suffering. In this post, I want to talk about moving on from so-called - negative situations in life and growing.
The way to grow in life is to learn from your previous experiences. If you continue to make the same mistakes over and over again you are not learning. Adapting to a new way of doing something or acting will be the only way to keep moving forward. Your life is busy, stressful, exciting, scary, happy, and much more. You will experience many different moments in one short 24-hour period.
I want you to spend life smiling and being happy. No one likes being around someone who is always upset and down in life. As I’ve said before in many previous posts, your environment and the people you surround yourself with are critical. These people will literally shape who you are, for better or for worse.
If something you perceive as bad happens to you, look at ways you could have done things differently. If the circumstance was out of your control then get over it. There are zero reasons to worry or be stressed about things that you cannot control in life. Check out one of my favourite books - How to Stop Worrying and Start Living by Dale Carnegie.
This book will help you overcome the things you can’t control and explain why worrying won’t help the situation one bit. Having a positive and optimistic outlook in life will help you to think of the good coming your way. Someone who is optimistic will believe in the good while the pessimistic person will believe in the bad.
Changing your outlook in life can take time and dedication. Some ways to help you not only feel better but think better are:
While this list may seem basic and simple that’s the point. The simple stuff is what will make the difference in your life. No secrets and no hacks. Just a simple routine and some structure to help you excel each and every day. If you want more great ways to improve your physical and mental health be sure to pick up a copy of my book Optimal Health.
Creating a daily habit of gratitude will help you look on the bright side of things. When you wake up in the morning and your feet touch the ground think of 3 things you are grateful for in life. Maybe it’s to be alive another day, your health, the house you live in, your partner, your job, the money in your bank, the new opportunity you have, or whatever else.
It has been proven that gratitude will help you to be more present in life. Being present will help you to act at the moment and focus on any task at hand. If you want to step up this habit even more consider picking up the 5-minute journal. This is a basic workbook that only takes 5-minutes a day to fill out. You fill out a small portion in the morning such as gratitude and what you would like to accomplish that day. At night you do a basic review to assess how you made out. 5-minutes a day will help you feel happier and fulfilled each day.
This journal is great and I have used it in the past. It will help you get clear about what you are grateful for and where you want to go. The act of writing these things down is a game-changer. While thinking positive thoughts is great it’s even better to physically write out what you are thinking about, as it helps attract it into your life.
I hope this post shared some great tips on accepting what happens in life and how to change your overall outlook. Remember you don’t need to make drastic changes all at once, rather small adjustments each day to see big results in the future.
