Welcome back to another week and another blog. Today’s post is about how to get what you want in life. How do people know what they want and where to go?

Knowing what you want in life - whether it’s a job, a house or a family takes time to figure out. As you grow and transform in your life, your ideas, wants, and goals will also change.

The one key thing I want to share with you today and how it’s helped me figure out what I want in life is - experiments.

Experiments or projects are the keys to figuring out what you like and what you don’t like. How could you possibly know what you want in life if you haven’t tried it yet? Doing something or being someone is exciting, but following through on a project to get some experience is critical.

Some projects I’ve taken on in the past include; writing two books, creating social media channels on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn, launching a website, filming and editing video content, competing in fitness shows, starting a new job, and more.

As you can see, there have been a lot of different things I’ve tried. These experiments have helped me gain knowledge on what I want to do, what I like to do, my strengths, and my weaknesses.

Talking about trying something new or taking on a new project is one thing - actually doing it is another. When you follow through with a project, you learn, grow, gain ideas, and get a real knack for doing it.

Have a Timeline

I’m a massive fan of taking on these experiments and projects alongside your typical 9-5 job or career. But, there are some things I want to cover to ensure your micro-project success.

Focus on a set timeline and deadline when the project will be complete. If you start writing a book that never ends, you will burn out and get tired. If you want to write a book, you could focus on initial writing and a self-published eBook on Amazon.

Keep these experiments shorter than 90-day windows, which allows you enough time to get some real progress on something but not procrastinate or waste a year on a smaller project.

Having a timeline will also keep you on track and progressing. Time management is massive when it comes to taking on projects for fun.

The Results You Seek

There are several reasons why you may want to take on a project outside of your normal scope of work or routine. Some results you may seek are solely to figure out what you love doing in life. Another result you may desire is a new career path.

Experiments allow you to do real work. Enough talking about what you want to do and get to work. This practical approach works. I can tell you from over two-plus solid years of experiments.

Want to start a new side-hustle or business? Create a 90-day project to test it out.

Your Path

Your path in life will twist and turn many times. Your choices, what you do, and your environment play a huge role in shaping who you are and who you become.

There is no direct path or correct route to take in life. Everyone falls once in a while. Don’t worry about what you can’t control, and try and enjoy the ride as best as you can.

3 take-home points:

  1. Surround yourself with A+ people
  2. Always believe in yourself and what you will achieve
  3. Experiment with new projects often - figure out what makes you smile
