WOW! Another year is officially gone, and I cannot believe it’s already 2023. New years are exciting, and I feel like everyone enjoys having a fresh start to focus on something new. And this leads us to goals and new year resolutions!

Goals, targets, a vision, a destination, whatever you’d like to call them, are the keys to get where you want to go in life.

I’m a huge believer in setting goals YEAR ROUND and not just on January 1st. But since it is January 3rd, let’s get on track early.

Luckily for you, I’ve already created a custom 5-day goals course provided completely for free as an email course. Feel free to sign up for this right now, or you can sign up at the end of the post.

Goals are no doubt important. You probably understand this already, but why don’t they work sometimes? Why do new year goals end so soon? And Is this preventable?

Why New Year Resolutions/Goals Fail

Let’s start with the basics. If you currently watch television every night for 3-4 hours, I suddenly say stop watching TV starting right now. What are the chances of you changing this routine immediately?

That is not very likely.

And the reason why is that the change is immediate, it’s drastic, and frankly unrealistic. This is the exact reason why new year's resolutions fail. People are trying to change their entire lives in 1 month.

People want to change their diet, exercise routine, sleep schedules, career, personal look, money habits, and another 100 plus items NOW, and all at the same time.

All I can say is good luck.

I’m ALL for BIG goals and reaching as high as possible, but you must be more calculated and patient about this timing.

The Formula for New Year Goals Success:

Small goals achieved consistently over time = BIG RESULTS.

It seems simple because it is. But it works.

I’ve used this simple formula to save over six figures, earn a million dollars, travel to different places and countries, and get into the best shape of my life.

This formula is what works, not some secret from some self-named guru online.

Why Goals Work

Goals work because they give you a destination.

When you plan a vacation, what’s the first thing you do?

Look up and think of ideas on where you want to go. This could be well related to the climate. If you want to go somewhere hot, sunny, and tropical, that will narrow your search immediately.

Once you have your destination (the place you want to go), you begin planning travel, whether it’s a flight, driving, or some other form of travel.

Then you might plan your stay, which could be at a hotel, Airbnb, VRBO, or hostel.

Planning a vacation is similar to planning your months, years, and life.

You need to start with the destination - the end goal.

But HOW do I Reach my Goals?

The HOW does not matter - at least at the beginning. But you need to know your heading and your direction.

If you don’t know your heading, you will drift, and who knows where you’ll end up. It could be in a dead-end job for 20-plus years, a city you hate living in, or just plain living a life you don’t want.

Goals are critical life targets to get you where YOU WANT to go. If you don’t know where you want to go, you need to think about it. Brainstorm, and get clear about what you want.

The Ultimate 5 Day Goal Setting Course will take you step by step each day to ensure you know where you want to go and a plan to see your vision through. Sign up for it here!

Celebrate Small Wins

Momentum is a powerful thing. Once it’s on your side, you can grow and make changes at a much faster rate than ever before.

The issue is many people delay their wins, happiness, and celebrations.

You might have even said to yourself, “once I get this, I’ll be happy, or once I accomplish that, I’ll celebrate.”

Waiting to celebrate and delaying your happiness slows you down. It delays your progress, and you will never ultimately be satisfied or happy with your results.

This is why celebrating small wins is critical.

Did you make it to the gym upon waking up this morning? Celebrate by making yourself a special coffee.

Did you read your favourite book for 30 minutes today? Celebrate by purchasing another book that you want to read.

While all your celebrations will differ, they don’t need to be huge and extravagant. If you get a small win, appreciate it, be thankful for it, and move on.

These small wins will soon become a sense of victory and accomplishment. You will feel better about them and want more small wins, creating a snowball effect.

We all may want to achieve BIG things, but these big things start small and grow over time.

How do I Set Goals?

Setting goals isn’t rocket science; it’s more like goal science.

And it’s something I’ve mastered for years and years. I’ve been setting, achieving, adjusting, pivoting, and succeeding with goals for over 15 years.

It’s a topic I don’t take lightly because they’ve helped me so much in many different areas of my life and career.

With that being said, there are many different ways to set goals and many different ways that work. It’s best to find the way that works for you; the only way to know this is to try it!

I don’t want my post to drag on for too long and don’t want you to get bored, so the best way to get my goal-setting technique is to enroll in my free goals email course!

In less than 5 minutes a day for 5 days, you will gain powerful goal-setting techniques that I’ve learnt to help you set the right goals for you.

It’s a very simple and easy way to learn and understand goals. All you need is a pen, notepad, or paper.

Following along in the course and completing the daily question and challenges. The application of this course is where you will get the results from. Just reading it or skipping emails won’t help you.

Conclusion

New Year resolutions are being set right now, and the success or failure of these resolutions is up to you.

Having a goal and target to aim for will ultimately get you further than just winging it.

Resolutions fail because people need to set these targets and standards faster. They take on too much and try to create changes instantly. This leads to limited results, burnout, and giving up too soon.

Write down my formula:

Small goals achieved consistently over time = BIG RESULTS.

Don’t worry so much about how you’re going to achieve your goals but have a clear destination in mind. Know exactly WHERE you want to end up.

Celebrate small wins along the way, no matter how small it is!
