Another Monday, another blog post. Welcome and thanks for spending your valuable time here with me on Your Optimal Lifestyle. My name’s Chris and I help coach people to live a life of meaning and purpose.

2022 is Here

Whether or not you’re ready for the new year or not it’s coming in full force. Less than a week and the clocks will turn ahead another year. While the past 2 years have been difficult to say the least, no one knows what 2022 will bring.

Uncertainty can sure be a goal killer but I want you to stay positive and optimistic among the current chaos. If you've read some of my content before you’d know that I’m big on planning and strategizing your life. While things may not often go to plan, you’re far better off having one than winging it day to day.

The big things I’ve accomplished in my life whether it’s been competing in a fitness show, moving across the country at 18, earning over six-figures a year, or building a successful career before the age of 30 all started out in a similar fashion - I had an idea which I developed into a plan of action.

Ideas Die

While ideas may seem like a great “idea” so to speak - they die. You can have a million or billion dollar idea each and every day. The problem is unless you PLAN to take the necessary steps to see the idea through it will be useless.

I’m big on thinking and taking time to think each and every day. Set aside 10 minutes today to just sit and think. Grab a pen and a piece of paper and write whatever good ideas come to mind. Maybe it’s something regarding your goals, or someone you want to help, or an idea for a side hustle.

Thinking is so important and a dying trait these days. While thinking and ideas are great in theory, they must be acted upon. Meaning a plan of action must be in place to move forward and gain some headway.

Plan of Action

After the idea and thought stage comes the plan of action. This is critical to crushing 2022 and starting off with some good momentum.

Plans work. They’ve worked for me for the past decade and I’m 100% positive they will work for you. The way you can dominate this new year is to have a plan of action you want to take.

A plan of action for your finances whether it’s a budget and savings plan, a plan of action for your physical fitness whether that’s eating better or going to the gym more often, and a plan of action for your personal life - doing the things to help you progress like never before (reading, meditating, walking, thinking).

A plan of action can look different for many different scenarios although the one thing they’ll all have in common is steps. What steps do you need to take to get into better shape? List them down on a piece of paper. It could be training 5 days a week for one hour, waking up an hour earlier Monday to Friday to allow you to train in the morning, or allocating some more money per month for healthy whole foods to help you feel great.

Here’s a quick example to help you out;

I want to lose 10lbs of bodyfat by March 15th 2022. This will help me feel more confident in my own skin and allow me to have more energy and live a longer fuller life.

Plan of Action:

  1. Create a basic nutrition plan to follow for the first 4 weeks.
  2. Create a basic workout plan to follow for the first 4 weeks.
  3. Put aside $200 a month for fitness related activities or workout gear.
  4. Contact a close friend to workout with and to keep each other accountable.
  5. Have a fitness journal where I track my progress each week to see what results I’m achieving.

This simple and easy to follow plan of action took me an entire 2 minutes to write. The 2 minutes I spent will most likely be the difference from actually losing 10lbs of body fat to failing to lose it.

Adapt on the Fly

Planning will help you achieve more in any area of your life, but guess what? Plans change. Every second, minute, day, week, month, and year your plans will change. Things will happen that you didn’t initially anticipate, such is life.

You must learn to adapt on the fly and learn to adjust your plans when things change. This could be your workout schedule getting obliterated by a new work schedule where you are now required to work the night shift, or a pay cut at work because things aren’t looking too bright in the future.

Learning to adjust and adapt on the fly while not getting too excited or stressed about it will help you greatly. The world is a constantly changing and evolving thing. You must learn to change and evolve with it every single day.

What are you waiting for?

Well, what exactly are you waiting for? Stop making excuses. A new day is here. A new month is here. And a new year is here - 2022. Stop worrying about what the future holds and start planning how you will win.
