Has someone ever told you why they can’t do something in life? I’m sure you’ve even said it yourself before. I can’t travel because I have responsibilities, I can’t get a new job that's risky because I need security, I can’t exercise because I don’t have time. In today’s post you’ll learn why saying I can’t is your most limiting factor in life and how to change your vocabulary to succeed.

I hear these two words weekly all of the time - I can’t. These words are disempowering and are only holding you back from getting where you truly want to go. The vocabulary you speak day to day influences the life you live.

You want to be mindful of the words you speak every day. Words you want to eliminate from your vocabulary are - I can’t and impossible.

When you speak these words to yourself or to others you have already lost before you have even begun. Whether you’re trying to get a promotion at work or can’t find the time to exercise, the words you speak affect the life you live.

You Can Do it!

The truth is you can do whatever you put your mind to, the first step is to believe you can. You want to disconnect and rid words like I can’t and impossible forever. If you catch yourself saying one of them, be sure to correct yourself immediately.

For example, if you say I can’t go to the gym today because I don’t have time. You can correct yourself right after by saying I can go to the gym today. I plan to wake up an hour earlier, freeing up more time in my day.

A big one I constantly hear a lot is I will never be able to afford a place to buy. Here in Vancouver, British Columbia we have some of the highest real estate prices in Canada. Buying or even renting is very expensive and living costs can be high.

People know this information and use it against themselves. They automatically come to the conclusion that they will never be able to afford to buy an apartment or house in their lifetime. Because they have already decided this and believe this they take no further actions towards owning. No goals are set to save money for an apartment, they don’t look at real estate, don’t ask friends or family for advice, and fail to ever buy something in the future.

The key takeaway is they already set themselves up for failure before they even took their first step. By saying I will never be able to afford a place to buy is the knockout blow.

Will some of these people ever be homeowners? Sure, some of them may eventually get into the market. But, I guarantee a lot of them will spend the rest of their lives renting and making someone else rich instead of owning something for themselves.

Have a Positive Attitude

Ensure you’re doing your best to say only positive and uplifting words. Words like - I can, I will, I must, I believe in myself, I will make it happen, I will never give up. Truly believe in yourself and the process you must face day to day.

Everyone struggles at one point or another, this is life. Keep your head up and only speak good about yourself and the others around you. Stop surviving and start living right now. There is no point in delaying to live a life of purpose, joy, and meaning right now.

Thanks so much for reading today’s post. It’s time to eliminate some words from your vocabulary forever. Believe in yourself and what you want to do. If you want more content to help you make a transformation in your life be sure to check out some more of our blog posts!
